Children's Village has many volunteer opportunities that range from spending quality time directly with the children, to assisting with events and fundraisers, or helping with outside maintenance on our campus and a variety of special projects.
Direct care volunteers spend 1 – 2 hours a week on a consistent day (for example 10:30am – 12:00pm each Wednesday) with our kids. Children range from infant – 18 for girls and infant – 13 for boys. Our kids are like any other children and they crave adult attention. They love volunteers because it allows them to have someone’s undivided attention. They enjoy being pushed on the swing, taught how to ride a bike, read a book, build a puzzle with them. You don’t have to be good at coming up with creative things to do with the kids, they’ll have plenty of ideas! If you love hanging out with little ones of all ages, this may be for you.
DIRECT CARE – TUTORING
School-age residents may have homework that requires extra time and attention from a volunteer with a particular skill set. Being a tutor is valuable in the learning and confidence of our residents. Working weekly with a resident is priceless!
MAINTENANCE - GREAT FOR GROUPS
With two 8,000 sf houses and 15 acres, we have plenty of exterior projects! From raking pine needles, to re-painting our deck, to planting bulbs and flowers, or helping out in the office — if you want to help but can’t commit to a weekly schedule, this may be for you! New projects opportunities are posted on our website as available.
SPECIAL PROJECTS/ EVENTS - GREAT FOR GROUPS
We have fundraisers, events and special projects throughout the year that we need help with. Examples of volunteer opportunities: stuffing envelopes with our newsletter, wrapping presents at Christmas, helping at an event booth or fundraiser. These activities are seasonal and do not require a set commitment.
If you are over the age of 19, graduated from high school and are interested in volunteering with Children's Village, please reach out today to our Volunteer Coodinator, Joan Rolland at firstname.lastname@example.org or give her a call at 208-667-1189 ex 111. ALL volunteers working with our children must pass a series of background check, and fingerprint clearance.
